DiCaprio og De Niro tar cowboyhattene på for Scorseses neste film

Martin Scorseses "The Irishman" ble nylig Oscar-nominert i hele 10 kategorier, og nå er den 77 år gamle regissøren klar for sitt neste prosjekt, "Killers of the Flower Moon".

I et nylig intervju med franske Premiere, røpet Scorsese filmens sjanger - og fantastisk nok har han ALDRI gjort den tidligere:

“We think it’s a Western. It happened in 1921-1922 in Oklahoma. There are certainly cowboys, but they have cars and also horses. The film is mainly about the Osage, an Indian tribe that was given horrible territory, which they loved because they said to themselves that Whites would never be interested in it. Then we discovered oil there and, for about ten years, the Osage became the richest people in the world, per capita. Then, as with the Yukon and the Colorado mining regions, the vultures disembark, the White man, the European arrives, and all was lost. There, the underworld had such control over everything that you were more likely to go to jail for killing a dog than for killing an Indian."

Filmen baserer seg på forfatteren David Granns bok med samme navn, og handlingen utspiller seg i 1920-tallets Oklahoma. Det dreier seg om de uoppklarte drapene på Osage-indianere. De ble ifølge boken drept på grunn av oljerettigheter.

Martin Scorsese går med denne filmen tilbake til det tradisjonsrike Paramount-studioet, og innspillingen starter allerede i mars. Med seg på laget, har regissøren to skuespillere han har samarbeidet med i en årrekke- nemlig Leonardo DiCaprio og Robert De Niro.

"Killers of the Flower Moon" har planlagt lansering i løpet av 2021.
