The story is about a poor boy, Xiao-bao, who follows his brother Er-ge, from a poor village in the northeast of China to the rapidly developing economy of Shenzhen in the early 1990s. During the period, the two of them inadvertently took in a baby waiting to be fed, how should Xiao-bao and Er-ge, who were living in dire straits, raise the child?
